Flood risk

Whatever your views about climate change, it is clear is that we are experiencing periods of sustained rainfall, often in very heavy bursts leading to significant surface water flooding around the village as the water makes its way into the drainage gullies and the River Boyd.

If you see any gully gratings that are blocked, please report them direct to South Gloucestershire Council Streetcare team:

The River Boyd has been known to overtop its banks along its valley and out on to its floodplain. If you live near the river or the floodplain and are concerned about your property being at risk, you can monitor river levels here using the Environment Agency’s level gauge located at the bridge at the bottom of the High Street, best found on the Gaugemap website here:
