Local Plan phase 3 (emerging strategy)

South Gloucestershire Council is proposing to build over 9,000 new homes around the eastern fringe of Bristol, adjacent the A4174 ring road and the A420. This proposal includes over 4,000 new homes in Wick, Warmley, Siston and Shortwood. Many of these homes would be built on green field sites, within the greenbelt

After researching future housing needs, South Gloucestershire Council has concluded that the only remaining option is to build new homes on the edge of the greenbelt.

Over 15 years from 2025 to 2040, the Local Plan phase 3 emerging strategy would see:

  • 70 new homes built in Wick.
  • 4,000+ new homes in Warmley, Siston, Webbs Heath and Shortwood.
  • Building on green field, greenbelt land.
  • Significant change to the character of the area.
  • Major impact on roads, transport, schools, and GP surgeries.
  • Bring heavy construction traffic to the area for years.
